Areas of Activity

The UKAWJ is currently engaged in a number of areas of activity, including responding to consultations on issues relevant to the association.

The Association is investigating the possibility of establishing a mentoring and educational training programme for judges in Myanmar. So far a ‘scoping exercise’ has been undertaken but the work done to date suggests a real possibility of setting up an ethics and jurisdictional training programme and fostering links with women judges in Myanmar.

In February 2015 the Association presented a paper to the Lord Chief Justice’s diversity committee on the implications for recruitment of the availability of salaried part time working and the information available to candidates seeking appointment about the location of anticipated vacancies. Work in this area continues with meetings with the Judicial Appointments Commission and other judicial bodies interested in achieving similar aims.

The UKAWJ continues to promote links with a variety of organisations at home and overseas.

The Association has held a number of successful events attended by members and their guests. For further information, please visit our past and future events pages.
